adidas Boost: the future of running
Boost running shoes have been acclaimed as the greatest running shoe adidas has ever made. Innovative adidas Boost cushioning technology is made from highly elastic thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), which has been formed into elliptical shaped pellets. These pellets have been steam-bonded and moulded into a midsole that cushions the foot and provides incomparable energy return. For runners, this means that adidas Boost shoes provide better shock absorption and instantly bounce back to their original shape, allowing you to go faster and further while expending the same amount of energy. Boost shoes have a softer, responsive feeling that compresses and releases energy with every step. Originally built for racing, they are stable and supportive for short and long-distance runs, with an ultra-comfortable design that looks as good as it performs.
The evolution of an iconic design
Boost technology was initially introduced as performance footwear for runners. The original adidas Energy Boost was released in 2013, the Pure Boost in 2014 and the Ultra Boost in 2015. These lightweight runners offered endless energy return, torsion spring support and superior traction, propelling them to unprecedented popularity.
At the end of 2015, the NMD_R1 was released as lifestyle trainers with a streamlined, modern silhouette and knit upper that works both for the gym and daily wear. Since then, Boost technology has been integrated into an extensive range of adidas athletic shoes. All athletes need energy return and comfort, so the original, iconic silhouette has evolved to encompass a larger range of models, materials and colours. adidas Boost cushioning can now be found in shoes for playing football, basketball and snowboarding. The superior cushioning is also integrated into hiking boots, baseball cleats and slip-on pool slides. Long admired for its attractive design, collaborations with Pharrell Williams have raised the style stakes of these trainers, which has propelled it from performance footwear to a must-have model.
